Monthly Meetings. These take place on the second Thursday of each month at 7.30pm at Wragge & Co, 55 Colmore Row, Birmingham City Centre (click here for a link to a map).
The purpose of the monthly meetings:
- welcome and get to know new members
- spread awareness of Amnesty and human rights
- get people involved
- promote the group
- organise activities
- learn about campaigns
- do actions
If we don’t have a speaker/workshop, the format of the monthly meetings is as follows:
- Introduction
- Icebreaker
- Brief Administrative Stuff
- Actions
- Planning Events
If we are lucky enough to have a speaker, then the evening will depend to a great extent on their planning and we do all we can to fit around their schedule…

I would like to attend the pre meeting at costa coffee
I have a personal human rights issue that I need help with. Currently, I am living in Birmingham England but the case would be against the US Government. To give a brief summary of my case, a number of years I was placed in protective custody by the US Government due to the fact that I was to testify in a case against members of organized crime.
One day two federal officers came into my home through an unlocked patio door stating that I had to be place in custody for my protection. Even though i refused, I was forced to leave my home, my family and my life. While in said custody, I have been inhumanely treated and have been used for human experimentation. I need legal help to get my assets and life back. Please do what you can to advise.
Regards,
Madaline E. States
Legal advice in an individual case like this is beyond the remit of Amnesty International, its unfortunaely something we do not have the resources to do. If there is a report of human rights violations then I would suggest you contact our International Secretariat – see http://www.amnesty.org/en/contact – they may be better able to signpost you to other organisations for legal advice.
Hi
I’d like to attend a campaigning meeting where letters are written. Do you have these? If so, when are they and where?
Many thanks
We usually sign letters and distribute information for people to write letters at our group meetings as well as other campaigning activities. We don’t currently have a meeting that is exclusively for letter-writing which some groups do. The best way to find out more is to come along to one of our group meetings which will be advertised on this blog. Next one will be Thursday 14th January.
Hi,
Is it OK for me to just come along to the group meeting on the 14th of January?
Many Thanks
